Kid attacks RMH Volunteer!! (Daily #363)

Volunteering with Kids

Volunteer to help children in need on a kids’ education or recreation project. All year, volunteers work with children living in homeless shelters, hospitals, low-income housing projects, and schools. Volunteers use these activities to broaden horizons, connect with kids in need of positive role models, and help provide opportunities that many of them never would have had otherwise. Below is a list of our Children’s Education and Recreation projects. More than 62,000 New Yorkers volunteered last year on projects in Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island.

If you see a challenge that is affecting your community, New York Cares offers volunteer opportunities where you can respond. If you don’t have an account yet, get started today.

Central Texas Food Bank

The Food Bank is a fun, nurturing environment for kids and teens to learn discipline, social awareness, teamwork and other transferrable skills. We offer age-appropriate volunteer opportunities for kids as young as 8. Youth volunteers ages 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Youth groups must bring one adult chaperone for every five youth under 18. Morning and afternoon shifts are available to youth volunteers Monday through Saturday.

We also offer a youth and family night on the first Tuesday of the month. For safety reasons, sleeveless shirts and open-toe shoes are not permitted. Remember, you’ll be on your feet, moving around, so please dress comfortably. Jeans, t-shirts and sneakers or work boots are perfect.

  1. I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your website. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Superb work!
